Why You Need Challenges (life’s unkind mirror)

Patience

“Tough times never last, but tough people do.” ~Dr. Robert Schuller

Pain is as effective at pinpointing our character flaws as an MRI is effective at identifying our physical challenges buried deep within our bodies.

Circumstances less often create the person as they reveal who we already are. Certainly, they help shape us over time. But at any particular moment, trying circumstances show us a truer mirror than we may want to see.

This is why…

It’s easy to love the loveable. It’s easy to be patient with kind and thoughtful people. It’s easy to refrain from being critical of people who do things the way we want them done. But how loving are we with those who annoy us? How patient are we with the rude and obnoxious? How judgmental are we with people who do everything the wrong way?

Only then do we come face to face with our true unpolished selves.

If that has been the case for you recently and you feel humbled at the image life’s mirror has reflected, be grateful you now know more clearly what personal goals to set and what actions to take to begin transforming the image to something larger than the circumstances revealed.

Before you go…
